Edinburgh Cask Management to provide a resolution for Clients of Cask88, Braeburn and Whisky Merchants Trading

Edinburgh, UK – 09.07.2025

Edinburgh Cask Management Limited is pleased to confirm that it has reached an agreement with the administrators of Cask88 Ltd, Braeburn Whisky Ltd, and Whisky Merchants Trading Ltd (WMT) to acquire key assets of the Group.

These businesses entered administration several month ago, leaving thousands of customers uncertain about the status of their whisky cask investments.

To provide immediate stability and accountability, we have incorporated a new entity – Edinburgh Cask Management (Resolution) Limited – which will manage the transition for clients. This entity is wholly owned by Edinburgh Cask Management Limited, and its operations will be fully supported and funded by our partners.

The Resolution entity has already begun a thorough analysis of the records, verifying cask ownership and liaising with bonded warehouses to safeguard customer assets and clearing debts. We are committed to working with all affected parties to find constructive solutions – including the replacement of missing or misallocated casks where feasible.

As part of our commitment to transparency, we will publish a monthly update via our website at https://edinburghcaskmanagement.com/knowledge-base/, detailing the progress we’ve made in resolving debts, transferring casks, and setting up verified warehouse accounts for customers. Our primary objective is to ensure all parties remain informed and confident as we work to resolve the situation for clients.

Edinburgh Cask Management has welcomed several former staff members from Cask88, Braeburn and WMT who share our values and wish to help clients resolve outstanding matters and these staff make up 10% of the staff at the group. However, we would like to make it absolutely clear that Edinburgh Cask Management has received no financial support, funding, or assistance from any of these companies or their owners and is in no way legally or administratively linked to them. We have stepped in independently and at our own expense to deliver this accountability.

We understand the uncertainty and frustration that so many clients have faced. That’s exactly why we’ve chosen to step in — not for profit, but because we believe in doing the right thing. Our industry relies on trust, and we’re here to rebuild it step by step, cask by cask. Every client deserves clarity, fairness, and peace of mind. That’s what we’re committed to delivering.

Our priority is to restore trust, protect client interests, and provide clarity throughout this process. We will reach out directly to every affected customer in the coming days to explain how their investments can be secured and, where necessary, restored.

We firmly believe that the Scotch whisky cask industry must be built on integrity, traceability, and professional stewardship that so many of the major companies in this sector have championed over the last 200 years. This acquisition reflects our commitment to those values.
