Edinburgh Cask Management (ECM) Resolutions: October Update – Continued Progress on the Reconciliation Project

As we move through the final quarter of the year, October has been another month of progress for our resolutions project at Edinburgh Cask Management (ECM). Our focus throughout the month was on contacting all customers where casks are currently unaccounted for, ensuring every cask is properly reconciled and transferred to its rightful owner.

Project Progress

Our efforts to date have delivered encouraging results:

  • £495,169.83 of storage debts cleared.
  • 4,269 casks delivered out (DO’d) to customers.
  • 70 inventory reports received from warehouses.
  • 8,731 casks located, either through inventory reporting or by backdating storage invoices.
  • 1,427 casks identified as eligible to be DO’d to customers’ accounts (pending account openings).
  • £899,550.01 worth of stock purchased during October.

We continue to encourage all customers who have not yet done so to open their warehouse accounts, as this remains the final bottleneck to ensuring all casks are transferred and accounted for correctly.

In the Office

Our customer engagement has been a key focus this month. In October, we completed 388 calls with customers, out of 533 scheduled. While 145 customers were unable to attend, our team continues to reschedule and follow up to ensure every query is addressed.

During these calls, we have been discussing casks that require replacement. We are now sourcing these replacement casks — typically providing like-for-like options, though in many cases we have also been able to offer upgraded alternatives. In each instance, both options are clearly presented to customers, ensuring transparency and choice at every step.
