Edinburgh Cask Management Resolutions: November Update

In November, we have been focused on every aspect of the resolution process, coordinating with bonded warehouses, managing cask movements, transferring stock to customers upon arrival, and finalising replacement cask agreements. Our goal is to ensure as many casks as possible are successfully transferred to customers before the Christmas break.

Project Progress

  • 4,647 casks delivery order processed (DO’d) to customers.
  • 8,751 casks located, either through inventory reporting or by backdating storage invoices.
  • 1,422 casks identified as eligible to be DO’d to customers’ accounts (pending account openings).

We continue to encourage all customers who have not yet done so to open their warehouse accounts, as this remains the final bottleneck to ensuring all casks are transferred and accounted for correctly.

In the Office

Finalising replacement cask agreements with customers has been a key focus this month. To date, agreements have been issued to 80% of customers, with 72% already signed. This progress allows us to move ahead with sourcing, procuring, and transferring replacement casks to customers.

We also welcome enquiries from suppliers interested in supporting our cask replacement programme, as we are currently sourcing a significant number of specific casks.

On the Warehouse Floor

We continue to move casks into storage as they arrive. So far, 67 bulk movements have been completed, with a further 10 scheduled between now and mid-January. In total, 995 casks remain to be transferred from sites where storage fees have been paid and customers have requested movement.
